THIS YEAR, POLAND ORGANIZED AN EVENT OF THE HIGHEST RANK IN THE WORLD. Supported by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the International Grouse Symposium (IGS), an international symposium devoted to grouse, is held every three years in countries where these birds are present and are the subject of scientific research. These events have a long tradition – the first one took place in 1978 in Scotland. This year’s fifteenth symposium took place in early September in Białystok. The organizers were the University of Białystok, the Polish Academy of Sciences and Regional Directorate of Polish Forest in Białystok. Over 120 specialists – scientists and practitioners from Poland, USA, France, Germany, Spain, Norway, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Japan, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium took part in it…
