Sound recording and analysis workshop
This one-day course will cover introduction to bioacoustics. Participants will learn:
– how to record bird voices with different devices (handheld recorders and unattended, programable recorders)
– what are the features of digital sound recordings and different audio formats
– essentials of filtering sounds
– how to read and create spectrograms
– how to screen recordings
– how to identify bird species from recordings
The workshop will be lead by two-tutors, experienced in bioacoustics and field recording: dr Krzysztof Deoniziak and Jarosław Matusiak. The course will include recording sounds in the field and their subsequent analysis. For the latter, we will be using Raven Lite and Ocenaudio software, as well as seewave package in R.
